"Claustrophobia" was the design project which was produced for the personal portfolio work. The concept of the project was to tell and interact with people by conceptualising the situation of finding comfort in discomfort. Also, about the adaptability of human-being through providing a dramatic and imaginary situation.
Imagine that you are awake in the dark room tied with a rope without any reasons which can be lead you to get into a status of panic. At first, a person in the room can feel confused and disconcerted trying to escape from the situation. However, within few hours, the body and the mind tried to adapt the situation which can be reached much more quicker than we think. Meanwhile, the tension of the body can be relaxed which is the act of comfort in discomfort. This imperfect comfort tells us about our latent adaptability.
The elastic bands are sewed at both sides of arms and legs that blocks comfortable(normal) movement. But at the same time, it is not uncomfortable as it is seen and thought, because the elastic bands help "him" to move his arms and legs easily. The elastic band represents the rope in the upper imaginary circumstance otherwise this can be interpreted as comfort in our minds. The project is composed of two different colours and four different types of garment. All of the garment has made by myself including patterns, sewing, and finishing.
